The FREE collection of green garden waste by Birmingham City Council has now ended. Darris Road and Warwards Lane landlords and residents who want green waste collected in future are required to register with the City Council and pay the new annual fee that currently stands at £35.00 for each household.

Registration for this service can be undertaken either by telephoning 0121 303 1112 or by registering on-line at www.birmingham.gov.uk and there is a link to this website under the links section of this website. Alternatively, green waste can be taken to the recycling centre at Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, Birmingham, West Midlands, B30 3JJ.

Please do not put the green waste bags onto the pavement in the hope that they will magically disappear! There has been extensive advertising of the change in procedures, both in the local press and via radio announcements, and your NHW group has confirmed this, in the newsletter and on this website, over recent months.

There can now be no excuse for any landlord or resident to use the excuse of, "Nobody told me...", as it is now everyone's responsibility to make sure they comply with the new procedures and be prepared to dispose of their own household green waste, by either of the two methods that have been outlined above.

NHW group members, including students, have made extensive efforts over the years, to help maintain the maximum level of cleanliness along our streets, which makes them a better place to live, and if this success is to continue, then all landlords and residents, short-term or long-term, need to play their part during the time they are based here.

Thank you for listening.
